About me

My name is Kaelyn. I am a UX Designer driven by the belief that design should be accessible, strategic, thoughtful, and useful. Through good design, we have the power and responsibility to bring about positive change. By including people with different abilities, creating better experiences, increasing brand trust with simple user improvements and by holding companies to a higher standard while they provide service to their customers and market those services.

But the little stuff makes me satisfied too. Like a well organized file, learning a new way to so something, and pitching ideas to clients. I love and expect challenges. My favorite projects are those where I get to work with a cross functional team on a problem that resembles a knotted mess.

What my day usually looks like

WORK
Conceptualizing:
Working with my team to understand the problem as defined by research, business requirements, and user personas and needs. Understanding current user journeys and establishing an ideal user journeys.
Implementing: Utilizing everything above, begin wire framing. I use Figma, XD, Sketch, and the Adobe Suite. Next, apply visual design with the use of either existing or created style guides.
Finalizing: Presenting to stakeholders, working with researchers for user research, iterating, and finally getting designs approved by editorial and legal.

PLAY
Weeknights: Cooking something delicious (likely from my favorite Persian cookbook), walking or biking to dinner, hanging out with my partner and cat, watching a show, or making pottery.
Weekends: Going to the beach, camping, foraging, exploring, attending or working makers markets, volunteering, or making pottery.
Hobbying/ Hustling: Making pottery (notice a theme here?), teaching a pottery class, learning code, or picking up some new art form. Next on the list is sewing.
